Lego Ghostbusters

I’ve never heard of Lego Ideas before. It’s a crowdsourcing site where people can make Lego models and other people vote to make it an actual Lego product. Anyway, they have an awesome Ghostbusters Ecto-1 model, complete with minifigures. It’s amazingly accurate for a Lego model, unlike the Back to the Future DeLorean which doesn’t really look like it.

Lego Architecture Studio

Depending on how old you are, the new Lego Architecture Studio set is either very cool or extremely boring. It’s the first set specifically designed for building houses and includes only white or transparent bricks along with special pieces like slopes. The only thing cooler would be if it came with a minifigure wearing an all black outfit and rectangular glasses.

Lego cyberpunk city

Some guys built an amazing cyberpunk Lego city. The level of detailing is staggering. They used electroluminescent wire to light up the city and the Lego men are even wearing cyberpunk clothing.

1980 Lego Idea Book scans

I found these scans of the 1980 Lego Idea Book. I have fond memories of reading this over and over again when I was a kid. Some of these scenes have a stark, desolate feel. I also love how, halfway through the book, the couple just casually get into a spaceship and lift off. Then they go back in time to the Middle Ages.

2001: A Space Odyssey Lego

Cool 2001: A Space Odyssey-themed Lego models. There’s a 6′ 1″ model of the Discovery One with EVA pods and detailed interior, a diorama of the Dawn of Man scene, and a model of the Leonov from 2010.

Custom Lego models

Ichiban toys offers awesome custom-made Lego models. They have lots of cool models Lego won’t, or can’t, get licenses for like the Back to the Future DeLorean, the Batpod, Star Trek ships, and various cars. Each kit includes all the pieces and instructions. The V3.0 DeLorean is especially cool, the gullwing doors open and it includes extra pieces to convert it to the versions from all 3 movies.

Lego Victorian House

Mike Doyle created an amazing three story Victorian house entirely out of legos. The detail on this is amazing. He used different colored bricks to simulate paint fading, and I love the “splintering” on the porch where the tree fell into the house. Great use of Lego parts to make the tree and grass look organic too.
