Centralia, Pennsylvania, is a small town with a population of 35 people. In 1962 a coal mine caught on fire and it's been burning underground ever since. Attempts to put out the fire all failed, and in the worst case the fire will burn for another 100 years. I thought this was a really interesting story. The fire's been going on for 40 years, and there's nothing that can be done about it. Most of the 1100 former residents have relocated, and the town itself is pretty much destroyed.

Nuts. So I woke up at 8:00 this morning to go to work. Got dressed, made coffee and all that. I get to work and I sit around for half an hour cause both my computers are being used by my coworker. Then my boss tells me to go home cause there's nothing I can do. I think our servers have the Code Red virus, so we can't get any work done.

Well, anyway, at least I get a day off. I was getting tired of work anyway.

Woohoo! Tomorrow's finally Friday. This week was so dull, I can't wait for it to end. Tomorrow I'm gonna see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back with a bunch of friends. That'll be fun.

DVD File has a sneak preview of the Memento DVD, which comes out on September 4th. Memento is one of the best movies I've seen this year, so if you missed it in theaters, you have a second chance.

This fluid simulation algorithm movie looks amazing. Lots more cool stuff was shown at Siggraph 2001, but the water is the most impressive.

My Spanish class is turning out to be pretty easy. I don't know why I put it off for 4 years. Amazingly, I actually remember stuff from high school. And my professor's pretty cool. And there's cute girls in the class who I have no chance with.

The new Harley-Davidson V-Rod looks so cool, I bet even I would look like a badass riding one. All I'd need is a foxy biker mama sitting behind me. I love those exhaust pipes.

And at the other end of the spectrum, the new Vespa scooters look pretty spiffy too.

I'm happy right now. I think I forgot to mention that I got a D in that stupid math class I was taking last session. I was worried that I couldn't graduate and I'd have to take it again fall quarter. Well, today I went to the ICS office and asked the dude there, and he said ICS doesn't really have grade requirements. As long as you have a 2.0 overall, you can graduate. That's so cool. And to think, all this time I could've gotten Cs in all my classes.
