I've been looking for a CD burner lately. I have a ton of porn-uh, essays I want to archive, and I also want to make some mix CDs to listen to while driving. So I've narrowed it down to the Plextor 8/4/32. Plextor are one of the best CD-RW makers and this particular drive goes for around $150 now.

Zoinks! Gellar, Prinze May Do "Scooby". Sarah Gellar and Freddie Jr. might star in a live-action Scooby Doo movie. You just know that's going to suck. I hope they get Rob Lowe to be Shaggy though, when he was on Saturday Night Live a few months ago he did a dead-on impression. Like, zoinks, maaan.

My computer's giving me lots of blue screens lately. Stupid computer! Stop doing that! I think I'll leave scandisk running after I go to sleep.

Me and Irving saw Drunken Master at the Block tonight. Once again Jackie Chan proves he can kick anyone's ass. I'll keep this post short cause I'm tired.

Woohoo! Finally Friday and the start of another dull weekend. I'm so glad this week is over. No more midterms. I should do something tonight and meet new people. I hear yelling outside my window. I think someone's having a fight.

Ants are crawling all over my desk. I don't know what the fuck they're looking for either cause there's no food anywhere in here. Stupid ants. Our school mascot is an anteater. Kinda ironic, huh?

Just got back from a birthday dinner for my friend Diana from my dorm last year. It was at this Japanese restaurant on the other side of Irvine. We got lost for an hour trying to get there because of bad directions. Then when we finally arrived, we took one look at the menu and collectively said "Oh shit." Every item was at least $15. I just had soup. It was one of those Japanese restaurants where you sit around a giant...uh...grill or whatever, and the food is cooked right in front of you. That was fun to watch. The cook had a lot of cool moves while he, er, cooked. And for the especially cool moves he turned on a strobe light.

I'm so proud of myself. I did nothing of socially redeeming value today. Woke up around noon at the same time my roommate Noel came back from 2 or 3 classes. Went to work and printed out all 132 pages of The Big U, cause there's no way in hell I'm printing all that on my dinky Canon printer. Left work early and stopped by Urban Outfitters at The Lab (Antimall). Yikes! $30 t-shirts. Nuts to that. Then I came back and now I'm bored. I hope something exciting happens tonight.

Besides burritos and tacos, tortillas can also be used as circuit boards, as this guy demonstrates. I bet they don't taste as good with solder on them though.

Whoa, this is historic. The first crew is now living in the space station. From now on we'll have people living in space at all times.

Now that Halloween's over, it's the perfect time to buy overstocked pumpkins at low low prices. Also, get up early tomorrow morning so you can hit all the department store after-Halloween sales.

Why do we only wear costumes during Halloween? I think life would be a lot more fun if we wore costumes more often. Come on people! I want to see vikings at Christmas parties. Fuck that pilgrim shit, dress up as a pirate at Thanksgiving dinner. Liven up Easter with a good devil costume(I mean Lucifer, not Bill Gates).

I'm going to buy the leather headgear World War 1 pilots wore, with the goggles and the scarf, and I'm going to wear all that whenever I drive anywhere. That would make anyone smile during rush hour.

Looks like there might be a subscription fee to use Napster. Well, that's cool, I guess. At least it's better than not having Napster at all. Seems to me like the corporations won, unfortunately.

Whoa, neat. Canon created a combination digital camera and bubblejet printer. After you take a picture you can print a little credit card-sized print, similar to a polaroid. Now you have no excuse when you take picture of a friend and she asks for a copy.

My compilers professor (the one who looks like a soccer hooligan) is going to a conference or something so there won't be class for 2 weeks. That means Tuesdays and Thursdays I won't have class at all! Now I have no reason at all to leave the apartment, or even change out of my pajamas.

This 24" widescreen monitor is going on my wishlist. It weighs 100 pounds though, I don't know if my table can even support it.

It's Halloween and I'm studying for a midterm. How lame. I should be out terrorizing the yuppies in Newport Beach and passing out razor blade candy apples to all the kids. I guess I'll have to postpone all that to tomorrow night.

I've been a fan of Neal Stephenson ever since I read the incredible Snow Crash a few years ago. I've been looking for his first novel, The Big U, for a while now. It's out of print and auctions on eBay go for $200-$500. Stephenson's said it's not his best work and it won't be reprinted (although, I guess they are reprinting it afterall).

Well, I've finally found an electronic version of The Big U online. There's pdf, LaTex, postscript, and plaintext versions. I know this is illegal, but I can't afford to spend a couple hundred bucks on a paperback book.

Ha ha! Ok, I know how I'm going to carve my pumpkin now.

My homework turned out to be easier than I thought. I love it when that happens. Now I'm feeling good and the rest of my night is free. I'm thinking about going to Alejandro's for some Mexican food.

Whoa, I'm blogging from a Unix machine. I'm so hardcore.

7:00 PM | !!
Geez, slow day. I haven't seen anything worth posting all day long. I need to go to the computer lab later to use the Unix computers, and I also forgot my password so I can't use the Unix machines through telnet. Looks like a boring night too.

Here's one guy's account of working for Amazon.com in one of their big warehouses.

I think a neat trick would be to open a seafood restaurant called "Tastes Like Chicken." That would fool a lot of people.

The new Vespa scooters look so damn cool. I wouldn't mind crusing around campus on a Vespa, with a cute girl on the backseat with her arm around my waist. The 50cc version doesn't require a motorcycle license in most states and only costs $2900. I would much rather have a Vespa than those dinky little Razor scooters everyone's riding.

I guess there's a retro-cool factor associated with them, as I've heard vintage Vespas are very popular. My dad said he had one when he was in college, so he's cooler than I thought.

While I was reading the paper I saw that The Matrix is being shown at the IMAX theater at Citywalk. I think this is the first big, full-length "Hollywood" movie ever shown at an IMAX. I don't know if they're using an IMAX sized print or if they're just projecting a regular print at IMAX size though. Either way it's still going to be very cool.

I'm back at UCI now. I actually got back around 5, but I spent a few hours at the science library. Ran into 5 or 6 people from my dorm last year. My weekend was typical; watched tv and ate too much food. I think I eat more food on the weekends that I go home than I do during the rest of the week combined.
