This tiny little fridge is so cute. Here's a picture of it in action on someone's desk. The fridge costs $74.99 though! The AC adapter is another $19.99!

Damn, I'm bored. You probably don't want to hear me complaining, but I have nothing else to say tonight. I feel like I'm wasting the weekend. In fact, I know I'm wasting the weekend. That's life.

I went to a comic book shop this morning and picked up a back issue of The Acme Novelty Library #1. The art by Chris Ware is absolutely beautiful. It's very colorful and minimalist, and the whole comic has a retro, 1920s/30s look to it. Get a sample of the comics here.

Well look at that. I guess I did have something to say.

These 12-inch Matrix figures look surprisingly cool.

Damnit, SSI still doesn't work. I fired off a message to my host's tech support, so maybe they can help. Holy shit, it's almost 3:30 AM. I'm not sleepy yet. It must be because of that really strong Vietnamese coffee I had at dinner. I think I'll go to a comic book store tomorrow, er, later today. I feel like spending some money.

I was messing around with my template, trying to get server side includes to work. I might've fucked things up, so if this site doesn't work, let me know. Actually, if it doesn't work, I suppose you wouldn't be reading this then. In which case, I secretly listen to Ricky Martin.

Here's an interesting essay about Fight Club and its meaning and message. Tonight looks like it's gonna be boring; I think I'll watch it again with one of the commentaries.

Check this out: $tarbuck$ is suing cartoonist Kieron Dwyer because he made a parody of their logo. The familar mermaid is holding a coffee cup and a cellphone, has nipples and a belly button piercing, and instead of "Starbucks" it says "Consumer Whore."

The demo of realMYST is available at Adrenaline Vault. Instead of the static pictures in the original Myst, realMYST use a real-time 3d engine, meaning you can walk around in the Myst world. Other than the graphics, it seems like the game is the same as the original.

Horror Spoof Will "Shriek" On Cable. I saw this movie the first time it came out, when it was called Scary Movie.

Elephant Captured After Leaving Manure Trail.

"Thai police said Friday they had captured a cow elephant..."
What the hell is a cow elephant? An elephant you can milk? The result of a bizarre genetic experiment? I'd like to see a cow elephant.

If you have some free time you might want to make your own bondage pants.

My roommate told me the Albertson's down the street (the one I always go to) was robbed yesterday. Apparently 2 guys wearing Scream costumes (how cliche) knocked out a clerk or something and emptied out the safe. Except for the clerk getting hurt, it's pretty cool actually. Nothing like that ever happens in Irvine. I'm willing to bet it was initiation for some stupid frat.

Overheard in the computer lab tonight:

"We should ask that chick in leather. Chicks in leather know cool stuff."

2:36 PM | !!
The Recording Industry's SDMI protection scheme was hacked. So I guess some hackers ignored the boycott of the SDMI hacking challenge. Anyway, take that RIAA!

2:13 PM | !!
What the hell? Prison Guards Charged in Sperm-Smuggling Caper. That's a new one.

1:24 PM | !!
Ha ha, oh my god, this is hilarious. They also showed the cleanup.

More quotes from astronomy class today:

"This is a picture of Uranus."
Heh heh heh. I feel like Beavis and Butthead.

6:35 PM | !!
I think "Mr. T and the Women" would make a much better movie.

3:43 PM | !!
Hey cool, for my operating systems class we have to work in groups on the projects. The professor assigned group names alphabetically and I'm in group X. That is such a cool name. I think I'm gonna carve it into my desk today.

I forgot where I found this but The Dot Eaters: Videogame History 101 is a very detailed article about, surprisingly, video game history. It covers almost everything, from the original Pong to home console systems to today's computer games. It's a good read if you have time.

I have a bag of candy corn next to me and the smell's getting on my nerves. I never thought I'd say that about candy.

Clinton Suffering From Senioritis, White House Sources Say.

"I don't care if I never set foot inside this stupid city again," Clinton said. "I'm not gonna be like Richard Nixon, always hanging around, trying to be part of the gang after his glory days are over. That's so embarrassing. I'm not even going to the inauguration ceremony if I can help it."

Everyone's heard the urban legend about the rocket car by now. The August issue of Wired had the real story. Apparently, the Wired article is a reprint of another article found in the recesses of the web.

I arrived at work a few minutes ago and I checked my work email. 3 viruses in a row! I don't know what kind of show my company's running but their security really stinks.

1:27 AM | !!
I should go to sleep soon. I haven't been to work in 2 days. Part of the reason is cause I can't wake up in the morning (the other part is because work sucks). I think it's because my roommate recently started closing the blinds all the way, so when I do wake up the room's still dark, and I think it's still early so I go back to sleep again. Not good at all. I'm turning into a real slacker.

I just saw the Charlie's Angels commercial on the telly. Surprisingly it looks kinda cool. Of course, the commercials for movies always look cool. We'll see...

This scene by scene comparison of The Matrix and Ghost in the Shell really shows a lot of similarities between the movies.

Slovenian Becomes First Person to Ski Down Everest
Man with No Hands Fails to Climb Mount Everest
I bet the dude with no hands was thinking, "Ski down Mount Everest my ass. Any jackass can do that."

Boy Named Hizbullah Asks Court for New Name. Forget the story, check out where these guys live:

"Hizbullah Icigen's father Abdurrahman asked a court in the southeastern province of Batman to legally change..."
Of course, they probably pronounce it differently.

The animated gif on Giant Robot's main page is money. I could watch it all night.

This weekend I brought an adjustable swivel chair from home because I was getting sick of the lumpy, wobbly, stained, short chair that came with my apartment. But some of these chairs put mine to shame. I especially like Humanscale's Freedom chair. It looks like an ejection seat from a stealth fighter.

Penis Explodes During Sex. I don't think this needs commentary.

Actually, yes it does. I wonder if he ejaculated. Cause if he did then, then he could say it was worth having his pee pee explode.

In astronomy we were talking about scale models of the solar system based on a 30 cm sun. So, of course, "Uranus is 1.7 cm across." Tee hee hee.

Ha ha, I love this bumper sticker. I have to find some sticker paper or something to print it out on.

12:34 PM | !!
The Escape from Monkey Island demo is available. I played a little and it's just as funny as it ever was. You also meet old characters and visit familiar locations like the Scumm Bar in FULL 3D (sorry, got a little carried away).

Laptops with Transmeta's Crusoe processor are finally hitting the streets (well, Japan's streets anyway). First out the gate is a thin Sony VAIO with a built-in camera. Hopefully the Crusoe will live up to its hype.

I'm back! And with an egomaniacal domain name too! You might've noticed, or not, that my old Netcom site is gone. With my brother now here at UCI, my parents didn't need net access at home, so they cancelled the Netcom account without telling me. So I didn't have any warning, I couldn't put up a redirect page, not even a "Good bye" message. I probably broke a few links from other sites too. Sorry.

Anyway, this blog is now at evanlim.org/weblog/. It'll be here for another year at least, cause that's when I have to renew my hosting thingy. We now resume blogging.
