Ick, I'm attempting to study finals this weekend, so there probably won't be much blogging. Although, knowing me, today'll probably have the most posts yet.

Wow, Silver of Bite This is even more obsessed with NIN than I am.

I finally got around to watching Fight Club last night. It was one of my favorite movies of last year, along with The Matrix and Go. Anyway, the Fight Club DVD (2 disc set!) is just loaded with extra material, like 4 different commentaries, special effects stuff, alternate scenes, a music video, and storyboards. The picture quality is excellent, right up there with the Dark City DVD. One of the good things about DVD is that you can go through the movie frame by frame, which helped me catch those little "surprises" I missed the first time around in the theater. If you haven't seen the movie yet, pay attention near the beginning of the movie when Edward Norton's making photocopies. I'm not going to ruin the surprise.

A lot of good points are brought up in this article about High Tech Obsessions, such as: "...the kid shooting hoops for an extra 2 hours is seen as a hard worker, and the kid who plays computer games for an extra 2 hours is seen as a slacker."

The Rice-boy Page is all about those silly looking lowered import cars with the big spoilers and racing stickers and all that shit that you see around town. The UCI parking lots are a gold mine for these kinds of cars, I see at least 1 every day. Hee hee.

Here's an interview with Neal Stephenson where he talks a little bit about his next book, tentatively titled Quicksilver.

In other news, the San Diego Union Tribune has a review of the NIN show I went to. Hmmm...I still haven't written my own review yet...

I got an email earlier today saying that a computer science grad student killed himself Tuesday night in the Social Science Plaza. That's the kind of thing you think will never happen at your school, but when it does happen you're not quite sure what to think of it. I'm shocked, I didn't think any UCI student would have the initiative to actually kill himself. People here seem so apathetic to everything else. I wonder what was going through that dude's head. What would drive him to kill himself?

Ah, finally done with classes for this quarter. No more stupid algorithms and artificial intelligence. Just have finals next week and then I'm done. This quarter's been hell. Too much work, and on top of that, I always get lazy and tired cause it's the last quarter of the year. I start feeling apathetic towards all my classes. I think I've fallen asleep in every single lecture and discussion, no matter how hard I tried to stay awake. Ah well, at least that's over.

I can't believe I've been doing this blog for 10 weeks now. I started it as my final project for an art class last quarter. I thought I would've run out of witty things to say weeks ago. Well, then again, maybe I did.

Boy Recovers After Snooker Cue Impaling. I think I speak for all guys when I say "OUCH!!!!"

This is stupid: Battlefied Surgeons Practice On Pigs. First a Danish marksman shoots a pig, then British surgeons practice on it. The more I think about it, the more absurd it is. Sounds like a Monty Python skit.

The hall banquet wasn't anything special, but it was still nice going out to a fancy dinner with my friends. I took my camera along and got a lot of pictures. My friends were trying to get a picture of this really cute waitress. Heh heh, that's so cute. Pathetic, but cute.

I'm about to leave for my hall banquet at this fancy restaurant in Tustin called the Macaroni Grill. Who grills macaroni?

Now this is cool: Havenco is opening an offshore data haven this summer. Data haven's are secure computer networks where you can store sensitive information, and governments and their regulations can't touch it. Very exciting stuff. If I ever start my own company, I'd do a data haven.

That's a swanky computer case.

When I went to the market last night, the first thing I did was go straight to the booze section. I don't drink, I just wanted to look like I was shopping for booze. Ah, the joys of being 21.

Holy shit, I just realized it's June! The year's half over already! What the hell have I been doing all this time?

FujiFilm officially announced that digital camera/mp3 player that I mentioned earlier. Turns out the camera is 2.47 megapixels, and it can also record 80 second movies! So I guess it's not just a novelty item in neat colors.

Heh heh, my new wallpaper is a picture of me, from behind, sitting at my computer and staring at the monitor. It's really surreal. Rather disturbing actually. Like I'm looking at myself from outside my body.

Whoa, I think I just had an existential experience.

I tried to use Jabber this morning. It's an instant messaging program that works with AIM and ICQ. I wasn't impressed. Windows could be resized so that buttons and text were cut off, and I get weird error messages when I first tried to log on. Even their webpage looks funny. Although, it's just a beta, so it'll probably get much better.

Oh yeah, and when I got back to my room the Fight Club DVD that my friend Khanh ordered for me for my birthday was waiting on my chair. That's so cool.

Went to San Diego today for the Nine Inch Nails concert with my friend Bobby from L.A. and his girlfriend Heather. Nice little roadtrip before the crush of the final two weeks of school. We got on the freeway and headed south. After a while the concrete made a sharp turn and suddenly the ocean appeared on the right. Soon we were surrounded by open land, the highway shooting between farmland on our right and low hills on our left. The trip was much shorter than I thought it would be, so we got there with plenty of time to spare.

We found the Cox Arena (yeah, it was named after Cox Communications) at San Diego State University (which is a dump, by the way), but it was too early and we were hungry, so we drove around, ate at Burger King, then went back. The show started at 8:00, and at 4:00 there was already a sizable crowd in line. Boring wait, I won't say more. NIN was just amazing; they put on an awesome show. The sound was perfect: clear sounds, deep bass, each note could be heard. They used these screens that showed mesmerizing water images for some of the instrumental songs from The Fragile, very arty. I'll write up a full review later and post it on my other site. Heather and Bobby got me a very nice Fragility tour program (birthday present), and I got a t-shirt and a neat ticket stub holder.

After the show we stopped by a market for food before heading home. Surprisingly, I wasn't really tired. I was wide awake actually, though I'll probably sleep til 3:00 pm tomorrow. Driving back was different: it was pitch black on both sides of the car, kinda creepy. I'm tired now. I'm going to sleep.
